About the event

Ready to take your jewellery-making skills a little further?

My Improvers Jewellery Making Course is designed for those who have already enjoyed an introduction to jewellery making, maybe you may have already completed the Beginners Jewellery Making Course or attended some of my taster classes and are ready to develop their skills, learn new techniques and take on more challenging projects.

Over five weeks, you'll work with sterling silver and learn three key jewellery-making techniques: bezel stone setting, sweat soldering and doming. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with different designs and finishes while building your confidence at the bench.

This is a relaxed, small-group course with a maximum of six students, giving you plenty of hands-on time and individual guidance throughout each session.

What You'll Learn

Stone Setting – Bezel Setting

Learn the foundations of setting a cabochon gemstone into a sterling silver bezel, including preparing the setting, fitting your stone and securing it neatly in place.

Layered Pendant – Sweat Soldering

Explore sweat soldering to join multiple layers of silver together, creating a more dimensional pendant design while developing your soldering skills.

Doming – Pendant or Earrings

Learn how to dome and shape sheet metal to create curved, three dimensional forms. Use your newly formed pieces to create either a pendant or a pair of earrings.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is ideal if you have:

  • Completed my Beginners Jewellery Making Course

  • Attended several of my beginner workshops

  • Some previous jewellery making experience

By The End Of The Course

You'll have developed new silversmithing skills, gained experience working with gemstones and more complex constructions, and created a collection of handmade jewellery to take home.

Most importantly, you'll have the confidence to keep experimenting and developing your jewellery-making skills beyond the course.
