About the event
Would you like to design and make your own piece of silver jewellery? Want to make a present for a friend? This afternoon workshop is for you!
Rings and Things is a spin off from my ever popular Stacking Rings class. We start the session creating a simple silver circle from a length of wire. What comes next is up to you! A set of stacking rings, a bracelet, a chain, earrings - the choice is yours!
You will learn how to measure and cut the silver, how to solder, shape and polish your circles. We'll look at ways to join them together and add posts or chain to finish pieces off. We can experiment with hammers and stamps to create textures and patterns and make your them unique to you.
You will come away with a totally unique piece (or pieces!) of jewellery.
The class lasts for 4 hours and is perfect for a beginner, no experience is necessary. I'll be on hand to guide you through the process with lots of demos and plenty of time to ask questions. The classes are small groups with all tools and materials provided, you just need to turn up ready to make! Materials are included with enough silver to create 3 rings plus an allowance for chain to finish off.
To see example of students work on the Stacking Rings class, check out the blog post below. This can be great inspiration for different textures!
There is also a Copper Christmas Decoration class running before this if you want to make a day of it, I take a half hour lunch break and you are more than welcome to pop in to Pocklington or bring a packed lunch with you. You can find out more about the class below and you can book both together using the Decoration and Jewellery ticket option on either course page.
